Principal's Message

Rodney Daniels
Principal

Dear Students, Parents/Guardians, Community Stakeholders, and Staff,

My name is Rodney Daniels and it is with great pleasure that I welcome you to a new school year here at Turner County Middle School(TCMS). This will be my 17th year in education and I am elated to be selected principal at this great school and district. For the past thirteen years, my wife and I have resided in Tift County with our two daughters. I have spent the past 16 years in the Dougherty County School System where I served as a middle grades Math Teacher, a District Instructional Specialist, and Assistant Principal.  I am excited and eager to bring my skills as an educational leader to TCMS and work with you as a partner in education to ensure each child's success.

At Turner County Middle School, we will have a growth mindset in our approach to teaching and learning. This means every individual (students, teachers, support staff, and administration) at this school has the capacity to learn, grow, and improve. To accomplished this, I am committed to maintaining a learning environment focused on working hard, taking risks, recognizing success, and learning from our challenges. As a school, we will use data to determine our areas of growth and needs for improvement. Through the constant use of data, we will be able to provide consistent and accurate implementation of the curriculum so that we can continue to experience growth in student achievement.

Along with the staff, I will establish strong relationships with parents, students, and community partners. We will spend a lot of time with your children, getting to know their personalities, learning styles and interests. We will celebrate their successes, small and large.  We will encourage them every day and let them know they are valued and have a special place in our school community. I will work hard to foster a safe and nurturing environment along with high expectations for academic success.

In closing, I do not view the position of principal as a job, but instead as an opportunity to lead our school to accomplish great things. The role of principal entails many exciting opportunities associated with student achievement. However, most importantly, my personal and professional goal is to provide children at Turner County Middle School with the best educational experience possible – one that will build a foundation for life-long learning.

Sincerely,

Rodney A. Daniels
